QUALIFICATIONS

Nominees will be assessed on their outstanding volunteer contributions/service or leadership, including but not limited to the following areas:

  • Significant volunteer service through serving on events/committees/work teams or supporting fund raising projects.
  • Distinguished leadership through service on the Board of Directors, as committee chairpersons/members for bonspiels, fund raising or other social events.
  • Leadership and/or involvement in the development and/or delivery of youth, evening or daytime curling programs either at HCC or through other Curling Canada, CurlON, Curling Quebec, OVCA or other activities and events.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Nominator(s) are required to complete the HMA Application form and describe (and to the extent possible, quantify) each nominee’s accomplishments and contributions to the HCC, using the above assessment criteria. Nomination forms must be received by January 31 to be considered for year end presentation. HMA’s will be limited to two per year, at the discretion of the Board.

SELECTION PROCESS

An HMA Committee (comprised of one ex-president, one existing Honorary Member and one past Board member) will review the nomination to assess whether the nominee(s) qualifications merit HMA status and make the appropriate recommendation to the Board for its final approval.

RECOGNITION

HMA’s will be presented at events where significant numbers of members can witness the HMA presentation. Recipients will be awarded an engraved recognition plaque and have their name listed on the HMA plaque that is displayed in the HCC lounge.

HM’s will be invited to events where HMA’s are being awarded. They are eligible to serve on the HCC Executive and committees and may participate in all meetings and HCC events with full member’s rights and privileges. HM’s are encouraged to contribute their expertise and knowledge as members.

While active HM’s are excused from paying annual league and capital fees and volunteer duty (at their discretion), payment is required for all other optional activities in which they choose to participate (such as, but not limited to, locker rentals, the 60-40 draw, and special events such as bonspiels and dinners).
