Team FRLAN capped off 2025 by competing in the World Financial Group Canadian Junior Cup in Oshawa December 27-30. The grand prize for the mens and womens champions for this spiel is a trip to Switzerland to play in the Swiss Cup.
The rink from Huntley faced teams from Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, Nova Scotia and USA. After round robin play, the team was sitting in the middle of the pack. However with the 2nd best LSD, this would prove to be helpful in their playoff round ranking game. The team edged St-James from Point-Claire, QC 5-4 in the quarter final. They then had a redemption rematch against Stopera in the Semi-Final stopping the US squad 7-4.
The championship final against team Dundas from Manitoba was a tight game with both teams trading points back and forth up until the 7th end. With the option to take 2 or go for 4, the team opted for the shot for 4 and were successful giving them a 7-4 lead. In the 8th and final end, the team put the pressure on their opposition right away with 2 perfectly placed rocks in the 4 foot by their lead. They went on to steal another 2 points winning the championship game 9-4. Team FRLAN will wear the coveted maple leaf and represent Canada in Switzerland at the Swiss Cup February 9-16.
