It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Johnson, with family by her side, on Monday, April 3, 2023, at the age of 58, after a courageous battle with cancer. Karen had been battling a rare form of breast cancer since 2017.  She was an amazing friend, mother and life partner to Kerry.

Shelley Fitzpatrick

We are saddened to announce the passing on October 14th of Shelley Fitzpatrick who was a past member of our club and the spouse of curler Dan Fitzpatrick. Shelley courageously fought a long battle against scleroderma maintaining an active lifestyle including golf in the summer and curling and social aspects of our club in winter.   The HCC Board of Directors offer our sincere condolences to Shelley's family and friends.

Janet Mary Bell

Janet Mary Bell passed away peacefully at home on the morning of a bright and sunny Father’s Day, June 20th.

Janet was made an Honourary Member in 2017, along with her husband Frank, both of whom contributed generously of their time and energy towards the operation and management of the club over the many years they were members.

Janet was always ready to serve as a volunteer on whatever committee needed her skills but perhaps her greatest contribution was her work in the kitchen helping Stewart and the boys put on fabulous ‘washing machine’ dinners. 

Cathy Mary Shane Valliant

Cathy Mary Shane Valliant passed away on December 27, 2019, surrounded by her family at her home, after a short battle with a very aggressive bile duct cancer.

Cathy was a special lady and beloved friend of all who knew her. She was not only a long time member of HCC but also a former president who made major contribution to our organization. Her laughter, kindred spirit and gentle nature will not be forgotten and will be forever missed. HCC was her winter sporting palace and she will always be known as it’s princess. Cathy would not want us to mourn her loss, but more so would want us to celebrate her life legacy by continuing to curl, having fun and always joke and laugh with each other.
