16 teams from 10 clubs across eastern Ontario met at Huntley over the weekend for the annual LCA McCallum Filley, Hamilton Shield bonspiel. Two Huntley rinks: Douthwright and McStravick both won their second game on Saturday, qualifying them for the playoffs for the Hamilton Shield (B side) on Sunday. Both teams won their semi-final game decisively and faced each other in the final.
For the McCallum Filley (A side), the Cotton rink from the Ottawa Hunt Club dominated over the Lane rink from North Grenville. It was a very tight game between the two Huntley teams for the Hamilton Shield, with the score tied in the 3rd and again in the 5th. After scoring two in the 6th and 1 in the 7th, the McStravick rink ran their opponents out of rocks in the 8th for the win. Congratulations to Hamilton Shield winners: Nicole McStravick, Mackenzie Leduc, Alison Budnick and Christine Bull and to the runners up: Leanne Douthwright, Laurie Thomas-Keay, Christine Hughes and Carolyn Bruce for a tremendous showing.
Sending a huge shout out to all of the amazing Huntley volunteers, ice techs, bar staff and cheerleaders who came out over the weekend. We were told repeatedly how welcoming our club was to our guests and their spectators.
